Madrid - the brightest city of Spain where binge lasts all night long, and life is in full swing. Here casual strangers quickly become friends, and enamoured find each other. The small country settlement became capital only in second half 16th centuries. Madrid became capital of Spain simply thanks to a geographical position in the centre of Iberia. Phillip II has chosen a place for capital in 1561 to create a symbol of association and country centralisation.
Madrid name not only a city of museums, but also palace capital of Europe therefore the basic sights of Madrid are uncountable royal castles, fortresses and palace complexes.


Madrid is located in 300 kilometres from the sea on a plateau in height of 650 metres. In the winter here often blow penetrating a wind, and by summer of a plateau it is heated. From the end of June till first weeks of September the average temperature in Madrid keeps above 30 C (85 F). In winter months of temperature average 2-11 C (36-52 F), only in February days with approximate temperature nearby 17 C (60 F) sometimes stand out.

Today Madrid is big, преобладающе a modern city, with the population approximately three million person. In comparison with the historical cities of Spain - Toledo, Salamanca, Seville, Granada - here can be a few sights from the point of view of architectural interest, but monarchs of Spain got outstanding picture meetings which are stored now in Prado museum.
